Self-Initiation Process

Om Namah Shivaya 🙏🏼
Om Namo Narayanaya 🙏🏼
If you are drawn to the Bridges Movement — the Self-Initiation Option — you may follow the simple steps below.
1. Choose a Mantra
You may select any traditional Hindu mantra that resonates with you. If you're unsure where to begin, simply use:
Om Namah Shivaya
or
Om Namo Narayanaya
2. Offer a Prayer
- Take a shower to refresh yourself.
- Sit down in front of your preferred divine form.
- Offer a simple prayer, in any language, to the Divine.
- Offer gratitude to the ancient sages.
- Seek guidance, support, and protection on your spiritual journey.
3. Initiate Yourself
- Close your eyes.
- Chant your chosen mantra three times — silently in your mind.
- Open your eyes and gaze upon the divine form you chose.
- Offer your respects through a simple bow or prostration.
From that moment onward, consider yourself initiated into the practice.
4. On an Eclipse
The self-initiation is complete only when you do the following.
On the next lunar or solar eclipse, sit before your altar at home or visit a nearby temple. If it is a Shiva temple, even better. If it isn't, that's perfectly fine.
Repeat steps 2 and 3.
That's it.
There is nothing more to do. No guru. No institution.
Only you and the Divine.
Daily Practice
- Chant your chosen mantra three times daily.
- Express gratitude to the Divine.
- Reflect upon the Divine and the Guru Tattva within.
- Continue your practice with sincerity and patience.

Spiritual growth is not a race.
Walk steadily and let the Divine handle the rest.
Om Tat Sat 🙏🏼
Love,
Suvrata Nirupa Sri
